CNYETB Exhibits at 62nd Annual SUNY Upstate Medical University Ophthalmology Post-Graduate Review Course Conference
December 7, 2011
The Central New York Eye and Tissue Bank joined 18 other international vendors (including Abbott Medical Optics, Bausch and Lomb, Genzyme, and Walman Instrument Group) as a primary exhibitor at the 62nd annual SUNY Upstate Medical University Ophthalmology Post-Graduate conference, held again at the Onondaga Convention Center in downtown Syracuse, N.Y.
Attended by some 250 ophthalmologists, ophthalmology technicians, and other physicians, this year’s two-day conference as in the past featured sessions and specific presentations for both MDs and allied health professionals.
CNYETB Hospital and Community Relations Coordinator Jessica Duffy and Administrative Assistant Amanda Fosberg promoted CNYETB’s services at the agency’s booth throughout Friday, December 2nd, the first day of the event. CNYETB Certified Eye Bank Technicians (CEBT) Alison Churchill, Jason Pauldine, and Laura Coon attended several clinical presentations on the first day of the conference, as well.
CNYETB provides corneas and corneal transplant services to two Central New York ophthalmologists, Dr. Charles Teitelbaum of Eye Consultants of Syracuse, P.C. and Dr. Robert Weisenthal, of CNY Eye Care, who were direct participants at this year’s conference. Teitelbaum’s presentation to allied health professionals, made the morning of December 2nd, was entitled, ‘Systemic Disease Related to Ophthalmology: Sarcoid, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lyme Disease.’ Weisenthal served as the moderator of the December 2nd physician sessions’ opening and introduction as well as the luncheon with round table discussion.
The annual conference is organized and sponsored by the SUNY Upstate Medical University Department of Ophthalmology and the NY State Office of Continuing Medical Education. The conference course program director for both allied health professionals and physicians is Department Chairman John Hoepner, M.D., who is assisted each year by Edwina Charlton, the program’s chief coordinator.
