CNYETB 2011-2012 Affiliation with Syracuse CRUNCH Underway
December 19, 2011
The Central New York Eye and Tissue Bank’s (CNYETB) 2011-2012 annual sponsorship of and affiliation with the Syracuse CRUNCH hockey team took flight Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the CRUNCH’s home game against the Adirondack Phantoms and will continue throughout the team’s 2011-2012 season.
At the December 17th game attended by some 4,000 CRUNCH fans, CNYETB volunteers Helen Doerfler and Donna Pawlewitz used CNYETB promotional materials to educate and inform fans about organ, eye, and tissue donation. They were the first of many volunteers CNYETB will be deploying this year in an effort to expand its community presence and mission.
“We love doing things on behalf of donation, and couldn’t wait to help CNYETB with their CRUNCH efforts,” Doerfler said. “We’ll be looking to volunteer at other events too, to help people understand that donation benefits all involved.”
CNYETB will be attending at least five other CRUNCH home games including its annual ‘Drop the Puck’ promotion, at which designated donor or recipient families go on to the ice and drop a ceremonial puck before the start of a game. Last year’s event was attended by 200 CNYETB volunteers and donor families.
Besides promoting its services and mission at its CRUNCH game promotion table, CNYETB advertises its services and encourages donation via a variety of game-long venues, including scoreboard messaging, live interviews of CNYETB staff between periods, and PSAs delivered prior to the start of each game.
